Today I went on a photo safari hosted by the photo museum Foam. I think they where sponsored by redbull 5 pics, but there was so much text in dutch that I just skipped the text and enjoyed the event.

At the beginning I got a map over ten great photo locations in Amsterdam. I followed the map and got inspired by it. One of the tasks of the day was to take a photoseries of five pictures. I went for the theme “thirsty” but I am thinking of going for “coke” instead when I deliver my five photo to foam. Here is some of my pictures untouched.

After following the map for a while I had to get to Marie Heinekenplein to find a hint to where the lectures of the day would be. When I got there there was a lot of other photographers there looking for a clue. Finaly we found a tiny sticker with a name and a phone number. I texted “small things” to the phone number and got Kerkestraat 58 back.

At Kerkerstraat 58 There where sevrall expiriensed photographers holding lectures. You could also talk to each of them one on one, but I went to too many lectures to get much talking done. The lecture I really wanted to go to was of corse also the one I missed and the place where you could talk to him afterwards was completely overcrowded. I did however get to talk to Elspeth Diederix who gave me some really god advise on how to not have as much stuff in my pictures as I usually do when I take photos in a city. She told me to focus more on one thing and thereby showing people what I want to show them. I think I was the only non dutch speaking at the place, but most of the lectures where okay with speaking in english. That was very much appreciated. Irene Cécilie’s lecture was very inspiering. She talked about how to inspire yourself and gave me 6 great tips that I will keep in mind: 1. Limit your space. deside that you are only going to take pictures in this street, this square, this room ect. 2. Put your brain in a different mode, like playfull, different or naughty. Pretend that you don’t know the world. 3. Look more playfully. which shapes look like each other? compare patterns. look for naughtiness. 4. think playfully. What would it be like if it was different? what does the shape remind me of? 5 Do playfull things. Put stuff in order. Make noise. Do useless things. The most useless stuff can often be the most beautifull stuff. 6 limit yourself. Limit the time, limit the colors, limit the theme, limit yourself to an opinion, limit yourself to an activity like walking.

All in all it was a great experience, so thank you foam for this great experience! I learned a lot.

As everyone know the volcano Eyjafjallajökull has had an eruption and all flights in the north-western parts of europe are canceled. They also say that the volcano Katla, whom is much bigger than Eyjafjallajökull, will probably erupt in not to long. Aperantly Katla has a habit of erupting just after Eyjafjallajökull. Katla is also suposed to have an eruption evry 40-60 years, but havent had one for around 100 years. If it erupts farming might become harder in europe due to severe temperature drops that MIGHT happen. Could all the earthquakes and vulcanos now a days mean that 2012 will be the end?

I don’t think so, but I think that Eyjafjallajökull is a really pretty sight. Check out these pictures that some flickr users in Iceland have uploaded:

Two weeks ago I delivered to rolls of film to a photo shop here in Amsterdam. I found the rolls together with a camera at my great grandma’s place and was planning on keeping the old rolls as decoration. But then I got the idea to print them, just in case there was something nice on them. On one of the rolls the numbers 1958 was written on it and while the pictures where sent away for development I kept on wondering ” is the rolls really 52 years old? or did they cost 19,58 kr? or did the numbers mean something else?” Since the rolls where so old, the photoshop could not develop them themselves and had to send them to a “special” place. After one week I got the negatives which looked great and I asked to get them printed. today I picked up the prints. They where 14 great picture all together that I will upload in 1,5 weeks when I figure out who everyone is. What I think I know today is that:

On this picture my grandma, Synnøve is standing togeter with one of her friends, probably Kirsten. If I have counted correctly, my grandma is 16 years old on this picture.

On this picture you can see my Great grandma, Judith at 32 years young together with my great grandpa, Egil who is looking out on the beautifull boats, mountains and sea in Lofoten.

I took a little bike ride around the part of Amsterdam where my apartment is to look for the spring. From my apartment I can feel, see and hear the spring. At least once a day I see raindrops on my window, Crows wake me up in the morning and my nose is getting itchy. Flowers are blooming all around me, the grass is getting greener and every now and then I see a ladybird. The weather is getting warmer and the rain is making me wet.

At 17.00 today I took my bike to Dam Square to check out the pillow fight one of my former co-worker was organizing.

So I am back from my Hyper Island week and I am being very productive I think.. I have started making a snow hut which I’m going to continue on the whole upcoming week unless it melts away and I have scanned in my instant back photos from the hyper week!







as you see there is dollar signs on every picture. thats the price I had to pay for not paying for my scanner program! I found a few free, but non for my mac, except one plugin for CS3, but I have CS4.

This year I got a nikkor 10,5mm fisheye lens from my parents. I have tested it a bit, but I still need some practice!
